Kinky Apothecary is an ethical brand. It’s extremely important to us to provide a platform for other black female founders in particular, but it is MUCH more important to us to keep our customers safe. For that reason, we put all our brands through a rigorous selection process before they make it onto our shelves:
1: Provenance: verrrrrrry important! For e.g. once a brand story begins with a kitchen mixtress who wanted to create a safe line of products for her kids, or who created a product after a bad reaction to a well-known brand, we know we are already off to a good start.
2: We ensure that products are cruelty free and ethically sourced.
3: We only consider brands who don’t use any toxic ingredients such as heavy metals, phthalates or any hormone-mimicking ingredients. (view our full banned list here). For the record, we are also moving towards 100% clean brands by 2025.
The products are then subjected to months of testing by our team of naturalistas and chemists (our founder Nibi also personally tests every single product) before we decide that it’s fine to bring them to you.
